Signs of Reading Difficulties

Avoids reading or becomes frustrated during homework
Has trouble learning letter names and sounds
Struggles to sound out (decode) unfamiliar words

Has difficulty remembering sight words
Struggles with spelling, even simple words

Dyslexia and language-based learning disabilities are neurological differences that affect how a child processes and uses language, impacting reading, writing, spelling, and comprehension. They are not related to intelligence and respond best to explicit, systematic, evidence-based instruction.
